Included with Initial Lactation Appointments: - One in-clinic visit ~60-90 minutes, (depending on the needs of the family) - Review of relevant infant and family health & lactation history - Discuss recent & current issues, concerns, challenges or difficulties - Oral functioning assessment with gloves - Infant weight check Full Feeding Assessment & Support! - Observe a feed & assess milk transfer and latch - Show how to know when and how much milk your baby is getting - Guidance for feeding management (when to switch, timing, schedules) - Suggestions for positioning & latching adjustments to improve comfort and drinking - Learn new comfortable positions with helpful tips & tricks - Practice latching independently with gentle guidance We go above and beyond with family care! - Determining interacting factors, sources and root causes of difficulties - Focused resolution of current issues and discussion of various paths of action and next steps - Discuss strategies & implementation process with parents - Develop a plan together for the next week that works for family goals - Address any concerns and answer any questions about the plan - Unlimited Follow-up Support Q & A for 3 weeks over email, text & phone Aurora Clinic Location: 372 Hollandview Trail #303, Aurora, ON L4G 0A5 We are nested in the Midwives of York Region Clinic in the beautiful Aurora Medical & Dental Professional Building. Conveniently located on the corner of McMaster Ave. & Hollandview Trail Main intersection: Bayview (34) & & St. John's Side Road (26) At an Initial Lactation Consultation, we will cover all of the important aspects to help you get started breastfeeding, including understanding your baby's hunger cues, comfortable positioning, getting the best latch possible, including how to tell when your baby is getting milk and when they are full. More details are below! In this appointment, we will also discuss infant care and sleep patterns to help your family get as much rest as possible during this transition to parenthood. We will discuss any issues or questions that arise to help you get off to a great start! Appointment times may vary. Initial Appointments are usually 60-90 minutes, depending on the individual needs of the family. Please let us know if you would like to book a different length of appointment.
